Club History

Take some time to read about DUFC - how we started, what we've acheived, where we are today and where we're heading!

Drury Soccer Begins

In 1986 Maureen & Derek Selkirk approached Franklin Football Association for permission to admit a single team of mixed ages into the competition representing Drury, selecting strip in the green & gold colours still our main 'club colours' today.  The team played initially on Drury Primary School fields, then the following year moved to the newly opened Drury Sports Complex in Victoria St with two teams.

The Kevin Wheeler Memorial Stone

The Wheeler family were instrumental in setting up the Senior section of the club in the 1990s and all of the family were activley involved on the Committee and playing.

The youngest member of the family, Kevin, was involved with playing, maintaining the clubrooms, marking out the fields, organising the bar and being on the committee.  After Kevin’s untimely death early in 2002, the family retired from committee work.

With the approval of the Papakura District Council, the family decided to plant a Golden Totara in Kevin’s memory beside the car park at the club grounds as this was Kevin’s second "home".  At a memorial game against Papakura held in June, the tree planting ceremony took place and the stone and plaque were sited in front of it, where they remain to this day.

DUFC & DUSC Club Logos

In 2008, in line with NZ Football and Auckland Football Federation, DUSC began the process of renaming as Drury United Football Club. This was completed in 2009.
