JUNIOR & YOUTH PRIZEGIVING EVENT
When: Sun 17th Sept, 3-5pm
Where: Drury School Hall (Youngs Cres, Drury)
Who: all club members & their families/supporters

FORMAT:
Teams will be seated together at the front of the hall, by grade, so they can be called in turn and easily access the stage.
Guests will have rows of seating behind the teams.
After a few welcoming words from our President, teams will be invited up on to the stage in turn, accompanied by their coach & manager.
The coach or manager will give a short summary of the team’s season of up to 5 minutes, then present their 3 team trophies to the recipients (see below for details).
Managers are given goodie bags as they leave the stage to hand out to their players outside later.
Teams return to their seats to watch the rest of the ceremony.
We encourage everyone to be present for the whole event but appreciate our youngest members may struggle, so if you need to leave, please do so quietly.
Once the official ceremony is over, teams often gather outside with their supporters and have their own mini prizegiving, with the coach debriefing the team and giving team members a team medal (see below for details), certificate or similar that the team organises themselves.
Supporters also give thanks to the coach & manager for their work during the season, sometimes with a gift or card the players have signed.
There will be a free sausage sizzle for players & guests.

TEAM AWARDS
Each team is allocated 3 trophies to award for:
Player of the Year - Sportsperson of the Year - Most Improved Player of the Year
Only three trophies are given and only three players per team are to be awarded a title/trophy as part of the official ceremony. Extra trophies or joint recipients are not possible.
Only the 3 team trophies, club trophies and any NRF medals divisional medals won are to be presented on stage as part of the official ceremony please.
Football is a competitive sport - while all team members are recognised for their efforts by being presented to the club and addressed in the Coach/Manger’s speech, the three awards celebrate the success and outstanding contribution to the team of three specific players.
Coaches make the final decision on who receives awards. They may choose to confer with the manager and/or supporters or put it to a vote, but the final choice is theirs. If they can't decide, the club Committee will assist them.

TEAM MEDALS / CERTIFICATES
Most teams gather outside after the main event to have their own season debrief and many present the players with medals or certificates as a season memento that the parents organise themselves.
The best source of medals we’ve found is Awards: www.awards.co.nz Price is usually around $9 ea
Please discuss this with your team coach/manager.

We also have three awards which go to the team with the highest final standing of the season in the Competition Round as decided by NRF league results in each age group (nominations not required):
Latitude Homes Junior Team Cup for U9-U10 grades
Junior Team of the Year Shield for U11-U12 grades
Youth Team of the Year Shied for U13-U19 grades

We have THREE club trophies which can be awarded across any level of the club, to a player, coach, manager, committee member or supporter.

Ray Bellanca Memorial Trophy - 'Thanks For The Hand’
Ray was a long-time Drury Senior player who passed away suddenly in 2011 playing the game he loved,
and this trophy was presented to the club in honour of his memory by his widow Kathleen and buddies from
his poker group. Ray understood that clubs are kept running by volunteers and that outstanding service to the club deserves recognition.
Please nominate any person you believe has provided excellent service to the club this season, beyond what would normally be expected, along with an explanation of why they deserve this award.

Trevor Waite Memorial Trophy
Trevor was a Senior player tragically taken in 2013 and this trophy was presented to the club in honour of
his memory by his family.
As Trevor's two daughters played and coached at Drury for several years, it was decided his trophy would recognise outstanding female achievement in football.
Please nominate any female club member (player, coach or manager) who has made contributions of exceptional
note to football or has had an achievement of note this season.

Yuksel Administrator Cup
This cup is to recognise the contribution managers and administrators make to our teams and club.
They are the oil that keeps the machine running, the efficient worker in the background keeping everyone informed, assisting the club with admin tasks, sorting gear and answering questions so the coach & players
can just focus on the game. Please nominate any person who has made contributions of exceptional note to
a team or teams in an administrator or manager role this season.

LIFE MEMBERSHIPS
These recognise the outstanding contributions to DUFC by a person over an extended period of time,
usually 10 years or more.
If you have any recommendations for Life Membership, please forward them, along with a brief reason
why your nominee is deserving.

The Committee will consider all nominations received and select the recipient, who will be presented with their award at Prizegiving.

And that should do it! Please speak to your team manager or email if you have any questions ?

Kind Regards,
